The School of Arts and Sciences Artists Collective, led by Dean Julio Nazario, MFA, was launched in the spring of 2009. Many incoming and continuing SAS Honors Program students have strong interests in the visual arts, as well as in music, film, and the spoken word. The SAS Artists Collective was developed as a pathway to enrich the education of Honors Program students by practicing and experiencing art. Collective members come from all majors: the life and physical sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities. The Artists Collective has regular drawing sessions, monthly coffee house events at which poets, musicians, and artists present their work, cultural trips to N.Y.C., and exhibitions in the main lounge "gallery" space of the SAS Honors building, open to the public. |
