Hey School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program Students!

Wow, what a weekend! The New England Patriots won the Superbowl and U.S. District Senior Judge James Robart issued a temporary ban on the immigration ban. The White House did say it would challenge the decision.

Aside from pop culture and politics, we ushered in February and there are a whole lot of events coming up this week

Want to know more about what fellowships are available? Come out to the SASHP's Tea with the Dean with Arthur D. Casciato, who is the Director of Rutgers' Office of Distinguished Fellowships. Learn how others were selected. Apply them and you might be selected too! This event is on Thursday, February 9 at 4:30 PM at the SASHP Main Office at 35 College Ave.

Thursday is also National Pizza Day, so if you want to share your love of pizza with your fellow students at the Honors Program, come to the Artists Collective National Pizza Day Coffeehouse on Thursday, February 9 from 8 - 10 PM at the SASHP Main Office at 35 College Ave.

Maybe you don't love pizza that much. That's fine. You can go to the Annual Careers in the Law Panel on Thursday, February 9 at 8 PM at the Eagleton Institute in Politics to learn about different careers available in law.

Or maybe you want an opportunity to dance, after a long week. The SASHP is having its Second Annual SASHP Formal: A Midwinter Night's Dream on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. If you're interested in attending, be sure to get your tickets before 5 PM today, which is when it closes! Come! I know from experience that it'll be super fun.

See you all next week! (Hopefully, I'll see you all before that at the dance!)

Sincerely,
Nida Saeed
Student Director of Honors Media

Come to the "Who Will Save the Children?" Lecture!

Across the globe, optimistic globally circulating "policyscapes" posit education as the balm to heal myriad social and political conflicts that are producing dispossession and extreme vulnerability for so many people today. Overlooked in these policy courses are teachers state actors who are charged with "securing" the future of the nation. Drawing on feminist perspectives, and looking closely at the case of educational policy-making in Lebanon, this talk analyzes the contradictory nature of teaching the midst of conflict and crisis.
