Professor Andrea Baldi joined the Italian Department in 1996. He has served as Chair, Graduate Director, and Undergraduate Director, and has been in charge of Rutgers Summer Program in Urbino, Italy, for the past nine years. His research interests focus on Early Modern and contemporary literature, with a special emphasis on women’s writing. His publications include monographs on Renaissance writer Alessandro Piccolomini and 20th-century author Anna Maria Ortese, and articles on the relationship between cinema and literature. Most recently, he has addressed issues of Italian modernity and literary interpretations of walking in urban settings. He is currently exploring the critique of city spaces in Ortese’s works.
