Summer Reading

Summer 2014 Reading Program

world made by hand cover
Program Description

Each year, our SAS Honors Program faculty, staff, and students work together to choose a book for new SASHP students to read over the summer. We are pleased to announce that this year’s book is World Made by Hand by James Howard Kunstler.

In July and August, new SAS Honors Program students will begin a conversation about the book with faculty, staff, and students on our SAS Honors Program Summer Reading Blog. On Friday, August 29, 2014, we will have a lecture, book signing, and reception with James Howard Kunstler. World Made by Hand will also be the basis for the fall 2014 SAS Honors Colloquium course.

Assignments
  1. All new SAS Honors Program students are required to read World Made by Hand by James Howard Kunstler.
  2. All new SAS Honors Program students must participate in our SASHP Summer Reading Blog: sakai.rutgers.edu/portal. New incoming first year SAS Honors Program students are required to post a minimum of two comments in July and two comments in August.
