Each semester, honors courses of two kinds are available for members of the SAS Honors Program: Interdisciplinary Honors Seminars offered through the Honors Program, and Honors Courses offered through Academic Departments.
Students must complete, with a grade of a C or better, a minimum of 4 Honors Courses totaling 12 or more credits that are designated as Honors Seminars or Department-Based Honors Courses. For students starting in the Honors Program beginning Fall 2019, at least 1 of these courses must be an Interdisciplinary Honors Seminar. Please note: this requirement cannot be satisfied with research credits or be used to also fulfill the capstone requirement. Honors courses and seminars are offered only during the fall and spring semesters.
Students may also complete one of their honors course requirements by pursuing one honors contract course option. With the prior approval of the course instructor, students may petition to take up to one section of a traditional course and use an honors contract to perform additional engaging assignments - such as independent research, guided discussions, multimedia projects, etc. - to enrich their learning experience in the course. Students are advised to review these frequently asked questions and speak with their Honors dean to determine eligibility. Students must submit all their materials electronically by the Sept 15/ Feb 1 deadline via this electronic form.
