Admission stats 2019We're glad you are interested in joining the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program!

High school students who wish to be considered for admission to Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program (SASHP) must apply to the Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) or Rutgers Business School (RBS) by December 1, the Undergraduate Admissions Regular Action Due Date. Admission to the SASHP is competitive and is based on a variety of factors including high school academic record, test scores, and extracurricular activities. Invitations to join the SASHP may be extended through SAS or RBS.

Direct Admission

While standardized test scores are only one component of the SAS Honors Program’s admission criteria, students with an SAT Critical Reading score below 600 on the pre-2016 SAT or EBRW score below 650 on the new SAT, or an ACT English score below 30 are not likely to be considered for Direct Admission.

High-achieving students with the potential to excel in the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program will be offered Direct Admission based on their application to Rutgers - New Brunswick.

Students invited to join the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program through Direct Admission will be notified in late February.

Admission by Application

Students who are accepted to Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences, but have not been offered Direct Admission to the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program, may apply for consideration if they believe that they have the qualities needed to succeed in, and contribute to, the community of scholars in the Honors Program. Please note that the application process is for students planning to join the School of Arts and Sciences. Rutgers Business School does not consider applications for honors admission, and only issues invitations through Direct Admission.

Although students with an SAT EBRW score below 650, or an ACT English score lower than 30, are unlikely to be admitted to the SAS Honors Program through the “by application” process, the Honors Program recognizes that neither standardized scores nor high school GPAs can fully assess the potential of students to achieve at the highest level in college. If a student believes that he or she has a strong case for admission to the SAS Honors Program, we encourage the student to apply by submitting the following materials:
