What attracted you to Rutgers University and the Honors/Scholars Program?
As an international student, I was attracted to the diversity of Rutgers and its wide selection of academic concentrations. The SASHP was a nice way to gather with other motivated peers in a smaller setting. I was also attracted to the courses offered to SASHP students.

Why did you choose your major and minor?
Because I knew that I wanted to pursue international relations in the future, both academically and professionally.

Tell us a little bit about what you're doing now. What was your first job after Rutgers? Where you do you live?
Following Rutgers, I enrolled in an Advanced Masters of International Relations and Diplomacy at Leiden University. During that time, I became an intern for the International Criminal Court. After graduating, I became an employee at IHE Delft, which is the UNESCO institute for water research and advanced academia. At IHE I coordinate the Dutch UNESCO IHP Programme and am a Project Officer for water diplomacy. I currently live in the Netherlands.

What has been your greatest professional and/or personal accomplishment since you graduated Rutgers?
For me, the greatest professional accomplishment was finding a job in a field I was passionate of—water politics. Since arriving at IHE Delft, I have had the opportunity to attend and partake at several global water conferences, represent the Netherlands in the UNESCO Hydrological Programme, and continue my exploration of the linkages between water and conflict.

Was there a class and/or experience at Rutgers that led you to pursuing your current career?
There were many classes that led me to where I am today. Some of these, included Intro to International Relations, European Political Integration, and the Political Science internship course.

What three words describe your experience at Rutgers and the Honors/Scholars Program?
Possibility. Discovery. Growth.

How has your Rutgers and Honors education benefited you in your post-Rutgers life?
It strengthened my academic experience and knowledge through unique and compelling courses. It made me a strong and independent individual. Being away from home for four years strengthened me into a mature adult. At Rutgers, I also learned how to find my voice and strive to achieve the goals I set for myself.

What advice do you have for our current SAS Honors Program students?
Explore! Take the opportunity now to discover new topics and widen your perspective. Rutgers is huge and full of possibilities, go out and look for them. Be it a club, a course or a trip, Rutgers has it all.
