What attracted you to Rutgers University and the Honors/Scholars Program?
I was keen on participating in Honors Seminars, and wanted to graduate with honors.

Why did you choose your major and minor?
I am a nontraditional student (54 yrs old) and have spent my life studying philosophy and religion. I decided to \"lean-in\" and finally get a degree

Tell us a little bit about what you're doing now. What was your first job after Rutgers? Where you do you live?
I still work at the employer I had during my entire time at Rutgers. It is a CPA firm who has been very supportive in my journey to be educated. I live with my daughter & husband and four cats in Fords.

What has been your greatest professional and/or personal accomplishment since you graduated Rutgers?
I read Plato's Republic, and understood it! But I don't think anything will measure up to having graduated from RU with a 4.0 GPA, Summa Cum Laude, and highest honors in both majors.

What three words describe your experience at Rutgers and the Honors/Scholars Program?
Dream come true.

How has your Rutgers and Honors education benefited you in your post-Rutgers life?
I am a much more critical thinker. I have spent my pandemic confinement reading the great books, studying the things that I've always wanted to know. My time at Rutgers gave me a super-power of sorts: the ability to understand and learn very complex ideas.

What advice do you have for our current SAS Honors Program students?
LEAN IN--you may not realize how great of an opportunity your present situation is. Do the readings, show up for class, pay attention & participate. It is worth it, always, even if you don't like the subject and even when you'd much rather be playing Candy Crush. This world needs your brilliance, and you can discover it by committing yourself to what may seem trivial and not worth your time. Anything worth doing is worth doing right!
