Professor Benjamin Paul teaches Italian Renaissance art at the Art History Department. He has written about nuns, doges, and Jacopo Tintoretto but also has a keen interest in contemporary art. He has curated an exhibition of the work of the German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans and is a regular contributor to Artforum. He received a MA in German literature from Cornell and a Ph.D. in Art History from Harvard, in addition to numerous awards, from the Max Planck Gesellschaft (2004-2006) and the Gerda Henkel Stiftung (2013-15). Since 2009, he serves as director of the Art History Study Abroad program in Rome.
