Join the Division of Student Affairs for the Jewel Plummer Cobb S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Women’s Empowerment Conference on March 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Busch Student Center, Piscataway. The theme is “Nevertheless, She Persisted,” a phrase that encapsulates the need for women to endure even as those who oppose try to silence them. The goal is to unite, educate, and inspire women to discover their passion and purpose and elevate their understanding of what it means to be a woman in today’s society. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets and join the conference Facebook event here for up-to-date announcements.
The conference is $15 per person. But to help boost attendance of our student population, $15 RU Express cards will be given to all RU students who attend the entire conference. Register here: http://getinvolved.tix.com/Event.aspx?EventCode=952241
Our mission includes the following goals: 1) continuously celebrate women dedicated to careers in STEM, 2) educate and provide resources and support for women currently pursuing opportunities in STEM and 3) promote STEM to young women interested in the field and provide role modeling opportunities. Although #stemHERstoryRU is nascent, this movement has picked up momentum and traction as more and more women leaders from a multitude of disciplines stand together in solidarity behind our campaign efforts. From inspirational photo shoots to Knight at the Movies featuring “Hidden Figures”, the #stemHERstoryRU committee has transformed intellectual spaces and empowered women leaders to take part in this initiative.
Our goal is to unite, educate and inspire women to discover their passion and purpose and elevate their understanding of what it means to be a woman in today’s society. We aim to create an atmosphere where women from all walks of life can empower each other to achieve new levels of success. Furthermore, we hope this conference serves as a platform where we can recognize and celebrate students, faculty, staff and alumni who have made significant strides in their disciplines, who overcame challenges and who have left their imprint on our community today.
We would be honored if you would accept this invitation to join us for this event. Since this event is open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni, we anticipate tickets will go fast. We invite you to register as a single attendee online, or contact Nadia Raza at
