Strength in What Remains Cover
Program Description

Each year, our SAS Honors Program faculty, staff, and students work together to choose a book for new SASHP students to read over the summer. We are pleased to announce that this year’s book is Strength in What Remains by Tracy Kidder. The book tells the life story of Deogratias "Deo" Niyizonkiza, the founder and CEO of Village Health Works.

In July and August, new SAS Honors Program students will begin a conversation about the book with faculty, staff, and students on our SAS Honors Program Summer Reading Blog. On Friday, August 28, 2015, we will have a lecture, book signing, and reception with Deogratias "Deo" Niyizonkiza. Strength in What Remains will also be the basis for the fall 2015 SAS Honors Colloquium course.
