Professor Marc H. Kalan has been teaching Marketing at Rutgers since 2007 on both Newark and Livingston/NB campuses. Kalan’s background includes executive positions in both Marketing and Sales Management. Upon an extensive industry career he began teaching at the college/ graduate level in 2003. Kalan now serves full time on the faculty of RBS, Department of Marketing. His experiences also include teaching in multiple Rutgers International programs: four times in the Executive MBA program in Beijing and in Singapore, and three times in the RUNIN program in Changchun, China. In 2013 he authored a 3 part series published in the online edition of The Journal of Sales and Marketing Management entitled, "Tips to Enhance Personal Presentation Skills in the Digital Age” since reprinted on the RBS website with an update in 2018. In spring 2013 the students voted him “The Thomas H. Mott Jr., Award for Excellence in Teaching”, and he won the Dean’s Meritorious Award for Teaching in 2016. He is often quoted in the media on a variety of Marketing Subjects. Kalan is also a HQT certified teacher of Comprehensive Social Studies and Language Arts, and Elementary education. The Case Centre in England published his first case study in May, 2015: Warner-Lambert New Products/Product Innovation Case Study. In the 2015 J&J Case Competition he coached finalist teams and the National winning team. Other Rutgers efforts include serving as the Faculty Trustee of The Daily Targum and as a University Senator. He has been the Faculty Advisor to both Rutgers Association of Marketing and Strategy; and the Rutgers Management Consulting Organization. Professor Kalan holds degrees from The University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.
