Faculty Mentors

Connolly Serena 2 Professor Serena Connolly holds degrees from Cambridge (U.K.) and Yale and has been teaching at Rutgers since 2007. A historian of the ancient Mediterranean, her research centers on people’s lived experiences, in particular the experiences of marginalized communities, and she has also written about ancient self-help books (yes, they had them back then). Another interest is in ancient food, which she loves to cook for anyone who’s brave enough to try it! Her current research explores the political importance of science and technology to Roman emperors’ self-fashioning.
