Faculty Mentors

Sargent TanjaProfessor Tanja Sargent has a PhD degree in Education and Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania. She is Associate Professor of Education, Culture and Society at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education. She is a 2020-2021 Longview Foundation Global Teacher Education Fellow. Professor Tanja's research has focused on student-centered reforms to teaching in China.  She is the program coordinator of the Education, Culture and Society EdM and EdD programs. She teaches courses in the social contexts of education and international education including Education and Society, Comparative Education, and an Honors course entitled Chinese Education and Society.  She is also an instructor, and the course coordinator, for Introduction to Education which is a required class that undergraduate Education minor students must take before they apply to any of the Rutgers 5-year teacher education programs.
