Peer Tutor Application - Fall 2022
Tutoring will be offered both in-person at the Rutgers Learning Centers and via Zoom in Fall 2022.
SASHP Peer Tutoring is searching for honors students from across the university to volunteer to tutor fellow Rutgers undergraduate students on a one-on-one basis.Â
SASHP Peer Tutoring was started by an honors student like you, to give back and share their knowledge with other Rutgers students. As a tutor, you will improve your critical thinking, teaching, & leadership skills, and build your self confidence. You will also increase your connection to the Rutgers community, all while helping your peers to succeed!
Application Deadline:Â September 16, 2022.
Eligibility:Â Undergraduate honors students in good academic standing with the SAS Honors Program, Rutgers Honors College, SEBS Honors Program, or SOE Honors Academy who have completed at least one semester at Rutgers.
Qualifications:Â Applicants must have:
- enthusiasm, patience, and a desire to assist fellow students;
- a willingness to engage fully in tutor training and learn pedagogical skills;
- the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and in a timely manner with students and staff;
- the ability to perform tutoring duties ethically and confidentially; and
- availability to tutor at least 2 hours per week on a volunteer basis for the entirety of the semester.
Mandatory Training:  In-person training for NEW Tutors will be on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 9am-3pm at the CAC Learning Center, Academic Building West Wing, Room 1125. Only NEW Tutors must attend training. Â
Courses: You may tutor any course you completed with a letter grade of B+ or higher. If you placed out of a course (because of high AP/IB or Rutgers placement test scores, or because you transferred in college credit for a course) and are comfortable and CONFIDENT in your ability to tutor the subject material well, you may tutor that course. All tutoring is one-on-one, by appointment, and takes place via Zoom.
